There have been so few vinyl LPs produced over the last 5 years that you should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever.  QUADROPHENIA - After the worldwide success of Tommy, Pete Townshend decided to take a second stab at "rock opera" and 1973's Quadrophenia was the result. Its premise is rooted in a teenage perspective in 1964-'65, and the friction between "mods and rockers" in the London and Brighton regions of the UK. The four-way split personality of the central figure "Jimmy" has been admitted by Townshend as also being based on the distinct personalities of the four band members. The legendary Glyn Johns' production is both powerful and stunning with the writing and arrangements, featuring maybe the most tasteful use of both sound effects and synthesizers in rock recording, brilliant. This LP was mastered and cut from the original ¼" analog master tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering using Classic's all-tube analog cutting system. Gatefold artwork including tipped-in 44-page booklet are given the usual Classic authenticity treatment down to the paper stock being original.   Track Listings 1.   I Am The Sea 2.   The Real Me 3.   Quadrophenia 4.   Cut My Hair 5.   The Punk And The Godfather 6.   I'm One 7.   The Dirty Jobs 8.   Helpless Dancer 9.   Is It In My Head 10.   I've Had Enough 11.   5:15 12.   Sea And Sand 13.   Drowned 14.   Bell Boy 15.   Doctor Jimmy 16.   The Rock 17.   Love, Reign O'er Me THE WHO ENDLESS WIRE - 2 LP SET Endless Wire, The Who's first studio album in 24 years, adds another chapter to one of rock's most experimental stories. Townshend and Daltry, along with their fill-in group members, continue their legacy of pushing the envelope. Nine of the tracks here are brand new Townshend compositions while the other half of the album is the full-length version of the mini opera Wine and Glass. For reasons that remain somewhat ill-defined, the concept wasn't quite driven to completion, breaking down around the middle of side two (on the original vinyl configuration). Nonetheless, on strictly musical merits, it's a terrific set of songs that ultimately stands as one of the group's greatest achievements." – All Music Guide Track Listings 1.   Armenia City in the Sky 2.   Heinz Baked Beans 3.   Mary Anne with the Shaky Hand 4.   Odorono 5.   Tattoo 6.   Our Love Was 7.   I Can See For Miles 8.   I Can't Reach You 9.   Medac 10.   Relay 11.   Silas Stingy 12.   Sunrise 13.   Real (1 & 2)     THE WHO LIVE 1970 @ THE ISLE OF WIGHT This recording is pretty similar in sound and content to the expanded Live at Leeds album, except there's much more from Tommy, and a few semi-obscure numbers like Don't Even Know Myself, Water, and Naked Eye. If you do like the Who a lot, Isle of Wight is worth having. Track Listings 1.   Heaven And Hell 2.   I Can't Explain 3.   Young Man Blues 4.   I Don't Even Know Myself 5.   Water 6.   Overture 7.   It's A Boy 8.   1921 9.   Amazing Journey 10.   Sparks 11.   Eyesight To The Blind (The Hawker) 12.   Christmas 13.   The Acid Queen 14.   Pinball Wizard 15.   Do You Think It's Alright 16.   Fiddle About 17.   Tommy Can You Hear Me? 18.   There's A Doctor 19.   Go To The Mirror 20.   Smash The Mirror 21.   Miracle Cure 22.   I'm Free 23.   Tommy's Holiday Camp 24.   We're Not Gonna Take It 25.   Summertime Blues 26.   Shakin' All Over 27.   Substitute 28.   My Generation 29.   Naked Eye 30.   Magic Bus TOMMY - There might not be so much stigma for the term - rock and roll opera. 75 minutes, the running time--that of some of the most inspired work the Who, which is to say anybody, ever produced. Remember that the narrative, while coherent, is little more than an excuse for songs. There is a reason the 1975 film was a musical from start to finish--the story would have sunk otherwise. But what songs! 1921 enchants, while Christmas seamlessly blends joy, sarcasm and wonder.  The highlight of the album comes late in the story with Go to the Mirror and Roger Daltrey's effervescent delight, Sally Simpson. Best of all, the pacing is perfect. The overture contains elements of its climax and the finale, and the weakest material (Cousin Kevin) hides in the middle.  What makes Tommy most impressive is that it was not dreamed up by conceited artists accustomed to hearing how great they were from music intelligentsia. Rather it was the work of 4 upstarts in their early and mid-20's who were most famous at that point for angst-ridden songs. The angry My Generation, the frustrated Can't Explain, the sly Pictures of Lily and the resigned Kids are Alright all keep appealing to teenagers even as the Who have grown to grandfather age. Just before Tommy, the Who's assaults on stage equipment and hotel rooms were stuff of legend. Starting with Tommy and continuing through Who Are You the delinquents found creative outlets for the rage, the fear and the angst. THE WHO BBC SESSIONS THE WHO - BBC SESSIONS LIVE- DOUBLE LP - Limited Edition analog Vinyl U.K. pressing - The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and your ears. The ultimate record -- the way music was meant to be heard and of superior quality for any listener.  One of the most creative and explosive bands of the '60s. The Who didn't record an official live album until 1970. For fans of the revved-up, introspective, and humorous fare that made records such as My Generation, Sell Out, and A Quick One instant classics, 1970 was a good three years too late. Rather than referring to sometimes-dodgy bootlegs to discover what "Pictures of Lily," "Disguises," or "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" sounded like live, we are now presented with a surprisingly clear document of the band at--arguably--their peak. A fabulous portrait of the artists as a young band, the disc brims with minor revelations--chief among them that they were pretty sorry as an R&B outfit and that (surprise) with Moon, Entwhistle, and Townshend bashing about, even a mid-tempo number like "Happy Jack" was a total scorcher live.   Track listing 1. My Generation - (Radio 1 Jingle)2. Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere3. Good Lovin'4. Just You And Me, Darling5. Leaving Here6. My Generation7. Good's Gone, The8. La La La Lies9. Substitute10. Dancing In The Street11. Disguises12. I'm A Boy13. Run Run Run14. Boris The Spider15. Happy Jack16. See My Way17. Pictures Of Lily18. Quick One,, A (While He's Away)19. Substitute - (version 2)20. Seeker, The21. I'm Free22. Shakin' All Over23. Relay24. Long Live Rock25. Boris The Spider - (Radio 1 Jingle) Details Distributor: Universal Distribution Recording type: Mixed Recording mode: Mixed SPAR Code: n/a Album notes The Who: Pete Townsend (vocals, guitar, keyboards); John Entwistle (vocals, bass); Roger Daltrey (vocals); Keith Moon (drums).Producers include: Paul Williams, Jimmy Grant, Brian Willey, Bill Bebb, Michael Appleton.Recorded at De Lane Studio, Aeolian Hall Stuido 2, The Playhouse, IBC Stuidos, and Presentation Studio B Television Centre, London, England between 1965 and 1973. Includes liner notes by Andy Neill.Digitally remastered by John Astley. On the 30th anniversary of LIVE AT LEEDS, the Who released this 25-track collection of material recorded between 1965 and 1973. This fascinating aural document provides insight the development of this seminal band from R&B-crazed mods into technically brilliant purveyors of original material. Although the sound quality of the earlier recordings varies a bit, the Who's tight playing and musical nuances (like the group's often-overlooked harmonies) point to greater triumphs in the future. This quartet of soul fans mixes in familiar hits by the Olympics ("Good Lovin'") and Martha and the Vandellas ("Dancing in the Streets") with more obscure material by Eddie Holland ("Leaving Here") and James Brown ("Just You and Me, Darling"). The last of these nuggets is given a Beatlesque treatment, with Roger Daltrey's impressive begs, screams, and shouts. Toward the latter part of BBC SESSIONS, Pete Townshend's songwriting talents and guitar playing shine, especially on a distorted take on the obscure "Run, Run, Run" and a raw and psychedelic version of "Disguises." Explosive versions of "Relay" and "Long Live Rock" pre-recorded for a January 1973 appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test wrap up this solid collection. THE WHO THE QUICK ONE The group's second album is a less impressive outing than their debut, primarily because, at the urging of their managers, all four members penned original material though wrote more than anyone else). The pure adrenaline of also subsided somewhat, as the band began to grapple with more complex melodic and lyrical themes, especially on the erratic mini-opera, "A Quick One While He's Away." Still, there's some great madness on instrumental "Cobwebs and Strange," and delivered some solid mod pop with "Run Run Run" and "So Sad About Us." was also revealed to be a writer of considerable talent (and a morbid bent) on "Whiskey Man" and "Boris the Spider." The 1995 CD reissue adds ten bonus tracks: some 1966-67 B-sides, their U.K.-only 1966 EP, an acoustic version of "Happy Jack," and a previously unreleased cover of "Man with the Money." Track Listings 1.   Run Run Run 2.   Boris The Spider 3.   I Need You 4.   Whiskey Man 5.   Heat Wave 6.   Cobwebes And Strange 7.   Don't Look Away 8.   See My Way 9.   So Sad About Us 10.   A Quick One, While He's Away THE WHO LIVE AT ALBERT HALL Recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall on November 27, 2000. Young Man Blues THE WHO LIVE AT LEEDS A loud, raunchy concert showcase for the group, with surprisingly little material from . The group's R&B roots are showcased here far better than on their post- studio albums, and the only problem for some listeners is the lack of the sophisticated studio sound they'd developed on previous releases. The 1995 CD reissue doubles the length of the original LP, with plenty of additional material from the same performance, including versions of some more of their early singles and unexpected items like "Tattoo" and the R&B standard "Fortune Teller." Track Listings 1.   Young Man Blues 2.   Subsitute 3.   Summertime Blues 4.   Shakin All Over 5.   My Generation 6.   Magic Bus   Who's Next Limited DELUXE Edition 3 LP SET. This album was originally released in August of 1971 and became The Whos most acclaimed work (recently voted the Thirteenth Best Album of All-Time and The Whos only #1 Album ever). Springing out of Pete Townsend's never fulfilled realized Lifehouse Project (which is included here in a double LP bonus), it revolutionized popular music by introducing the use of pre-programmed synthesizers and sequencing. Who's Next features some of The Whos all-time biggest tracks including the Seventeenth Best Single of All-Time - Won't Get Fooled Again - Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes and more. Who's Next set a rock standard that even its creators struggled to emulate. This LP was principally recorded at Olympic Studios in England and had additional personnel of Leslie West, guitar - Nicky Hopkins, piano - Al Kooper, organ.
