Description
You are bidding on THE ORIGINAL, NOT A REISSUE of THE NOMADDS MLP – 6521 Radex Recording Studios Freeport, Illinois Hi, I’m Lee Garner and I played guitar in The Nomadds. Greg Johnson (Vocals, Rythm Guitar) and I formed the genesis of the band in1962 and after the addition of Tony Cannova (Drums), Dean “Stick” Kuehl (Vocals, Harmonica), and Dennis Kuhl (Bass) we recorded THE NOMADDS album in the winter of 1965. It was released on April 17, 1965 at a dance held at the Masonic Temple Ballroom in Freeport, Illinois, my hometown. Barb Kuhl (Denny’s wife) and Jan Kuehl (Stick’s wife) sold records that night while we played. They sold tickets at our other dances too and were by far the best looking Nomadds. We recorded the album at Radex Recording Studios in Freeport. Dexter Witt recorded the band in a studio he had set up in his house. The live room was in the basement and the control room was immediately above it in a little room off his dining room. We’d do a take, run upstairs to listen to the playback, then run back downstairs for another take. A couple of years after the group disbanded I moved here to Nashville where I’ve hammered out a living in the music business and lived the life of a guitar mercenary for more than thirty years. To have it all come full circle with the growing attention the Nomadd album is receiving is something I’m genuinely grateful for. I’m still in touch with all the guys. We’ve remained great friends over these many years and we would all like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you who supported the band way back when, as well as, all of those who may be listening to The Nomadds for the first time. You can find a review of The Nomadds album at http://lysergia.com/ Click on: The Lama Reviews, Reviews #51-60, Review #57. Written by Patrick Lundborg, (The Lama), it places the album historically and provides a song by song critique. In Hans Pokora's definitive book, 1001 Record Collector Dreams, his “Valuation of Rarity” system places the Nomadd album in the Very Rare category and attaches a dollar value at $900+ for a mint or near mint condition copy. This album is one of three that I own and it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever find a Nomadd record any nearer mint condition than this one. The record has some surface scratches but is clean, plays absolutely great with no skips, and has retained it’s fidelity. The cover is in excellent condition with no writing on it. There is one small pencil mark on the front, just underneath and to the right of the "S", however, it's so slight it doesn't show up at all in the photo. The dust jacket is original. I’ll pay shipping and insurance. Bidding starts at $750. If you would like to bid on a bootlegged reissue of this album be sure to check out my other post: http://cgi.ebay.com/THE-NOMADDS-REISSUE_W0QQitemZ200259794680QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200259794680&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Actually, please check that out. Ugly Things magazine has included The Nomadd album in their “20 Little-Known Albums That Need To Be Reissued” listing. The Nomadds agree. Be watching for: THE NOMADDS CD REISSUE AUTHORIZED & AUTHENIC DIGITALLY RESTORED & REMASTERED w/NEVER BEFORE HEARD MATERIAL Thanks Everybody, Lee
