Description
OK...I will be 60 years old this fall and it's time to give up my dream of taking Roger McGuinn's place when the BYRDS regroup. This jingle jangle Rickenbacker 12 string electric guitar is like new. No scratches, dents, dings, fretboard dips or neck curvature. This is the classic Model 330/12 and I believe it comes from 1991 so it is approaching vintage status. Sometimes, I just take this instrument out of the case and stare at it because the fireglo wood is so beautiful and the design is so elegant. There are two single hi-gain coil pickups on a full size body and they are accented by a traditionally shaped "slash" sound hole. The 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard has no wear at all and is punctuated by dot inlay fret markers, with full double cutaways permitting access to all those high frets when you play "Eight Miles High". Standard output is monaural through a single jack plate. I believe the body type would properly be classified as "semi-acoustic." There are 24 frets with a scale length of 24 and 3/4". The neck width at the nut is 1.63". The body wood and neck are made of hard maple. The fingerboard is rosewood. Pickguard and face plate are the original white plastic. The tailpiece is the Rickenbacker "R" type which I recently had added on because the original one was damaged. The tailpiece was ordered from the Rickenbacker factory to match this model and the paperwork will be included in the sale. I believe all other parts are original to the instrument but the guitar is being sold "As Is" in the event some collector wants to send it back only because he believes a replacement screw was used on the plastic truss rod cover or some other tiny detail. Overall length of this classic guitar is 39 and 1/2". The machine heads are Schaller and say "Made in Germany". The guitar weighs about 8 lbs. out of the case. The serial number on the input jack is I4 - 6004 which I believe means that this guitar was made in 1991. I just found this out when an Ebayer emailed a question about it. The original hardshell, lined case is also included and like the guitar it is like new. The radius wrenches and original Rickenbacker wipe cloth will also be included. Like Roger McGuinn, I've gone back to my roots and now play banjo in a bluegrass band. To everything, turn, turn, turn, there is a season. Despite the message that I would ship internationally, the cost is just too prohibitive for such large packages so this is a domestic sale only.
