Ronisch Spans the Centuries Rare opportunity, own a piece of History. 14 great pictures! Beautiful condition! Some history about this Antique Ronisch Grand Piano: Carl Ronisch, who in 1845 owned a small workshop in Dresden, Germany, became one of the foremost pioneers of piano building in his time. In 1866 he had the epochal idea of using a full cast-iron plate in the piano, employing five struts and completely covering the wrest-plank, allowing for the fisrt time a high tension scale. Carl Ronisch was appointed Royal Purveyor to the Courts of Saxony Spain, Austro-Hungary, Sweden-Norway and to the Tsar of Russia, thus laying the fundation of his world famous name. Ronisch Pianos were praised by Richard Strauss, Anton Rubistein, Edvard Greig. Tchaikovsy, Rachmaninov and Puccini are some of the masters who are associated with this superb German Piano. For 160 years Ronisch has represented a history of pianos handmade in Germany and will continue to do so. It is believed that Carl Ronisch build up to 15,000 pianos, he died in 1893 but his sons, Albert and Hermann, continued with thier father's work. They have recently open a building where they keep enriching the culture of music of the world. This Ronisch Grand Piano 186k, serial number 5887, handmade approximately between 1872-1874 in Dresden, Germany, is a beautiful Ebony Satin Piano, it has 50 ivory keys and 35 black keys, bronze pedals, ornate music rack-lyre and octagonal Victorian legs. Matching stool included, the stool has a circular mobile seat with four carved legs that have bronze finish in the form of a claw with a crystal ball inside. The condition of the cabinet is very good, with little wear. The plate is in good condition, strings and top felt have been replaced. Bass strings showing age, but still resonate very nicely. Steel strings also in good condition. Hammers have been replaced and show very little wear, no flat spots. The action has also been rebuilt and is very clean. Plays nicely. Dampers are clean and shut of strings very well. Hardware on piano is brass and is a little aged but no corrosion. The tuning pins have little to no rust and are tight and hold a tune well. Soundboard shows no cracks. The touch and tone of this piano are truly magnificent, it has never look better and sounds like a Ronisch should sound.
