Description
OTIS REDDING Orig Red Vinyl debut 7" THESE ARMS OF MINE SUPER RARE 1962 VOLT RED VINYL SINGLE Here is an original RED VINYL copy of Otis Redding's debut Volt single, These Arms Of Mine/Hey Hey Baby. This is the only copy in existence. And here is the story.... In the early to mid 1960's, Savoy Records in Newark, NJ released many great jazz and blues records--and their Newark pressing plant also custom pressed records for other labels too, including Capitol, MGM, Stax/Volt, and others. It was common then for labels to press records in two or three locations around the country (to save on shipping costs,) subcontracting their pressing to people with pressing plants in various locations. The son of the Savoy's owner, Herman Lubinsky, was a teen ager at the time (we think his name was Buzz Lubinsky,) and occasionally pressed some "after hours" colored vinyl pressings of records--unique as he would press one of each he was interested in. These were made using the same stampers and labels used on the regular releases Savoy was pressing, so they are kind of hybrids--not made for release, but made using the exact same stampers in the same plants at the same time the "for sale" records were being pressed. This beauty is in EX++ condition. Over the years, a few of these have made it to the collectors market, notably a few colored vinyl Beatles Captiol singles, which sold for huge sums. I bought this Otis single years ago from a dealer who was selling it for Lubinsky's son. It is in near mint condition, has the same stamper numbers as the commercial release, and was made in 1962, when the black vinyl copies were being pressed. It's just stunning to behold, and you can be not only the first on your block to own one of these--but the only one in the world.
