Description
You are about to bid on a very important monumental piece of history. This is a 8'' Audiodisc Master Lacquer from New York and is the aluminum type with two holes. This disc is in Near Mint condition with original sleeve. This acetate has no chips or scratches and is not warped. The songs are handwritten in old blue Scripto ink.  It is Mary Martin singing acapella with no music or other singers. This also has an acapella version of Forever and Ever by Mary martin.   Now you say well what is Mary Martin doing singing this song. I can't answer that but I do Know that South Pacific was done in 1949 and so was Forever and Ever by Russ Morgan. What is important to note and is a fact is both Russ Morgan and Mary Martin were both in New York in 1949 . Also a very important comment on Russ Morgan is that he arranged broadway shows. It seams that this Forever and Ever song was done for a reason not just becuase it was a hit and she liked it. I dont think its by chance or fate that these songs are all three on this disc. Having this Russ Morgan song on here with these two songs actually gives this a very specific era slot in time (1949). There is a N# 50 penciled in on the sleeve. I am not saying that this is the year for certain but could very well be. Ok the Puzzle is starting to fit together and this disc is very unique. This disc is more than likely a one off as they say in the recording industry. This disc is very well made and you can clearly hear that some one with a great deal of experience and knowledge cut this Master Lacquer. Folks it dont get much rarer than an unreleased song version from what I know. I am not an expert but I know when I see and hear something that is very rare and unique. Has the beautiful Some Enchanted Evening and the erie song Bali Ha'i.  Some Enchanted evening was wrote on one side and then scribbled out and put on the other side. See pics.   It is also written on this ultra rare Acetate disc as One Enchanted Evening,  Instead of (Some) Enchanted Evening. To my knowledge these versions of all three songs have not been released on anything.  Forever and Ever was a hit for Russ Morgan in 1949 .  What is a known fact is she did not sing Forever and Ever with her South Pacific broadway songs. These are songs from the South Pacific Broadway play. Or at least Some Enchanted Evening and Bali Ha'i were. Forever and Ever was not on the play bill and also was not on the cut songs they didn't use for cast play.  These songs are marvelous and pure in there rare and original acapella form. If you want something that is truly unique and part of history then you might want to consider this Acetate disc.  If I had to put a value on this Disc it would be very hard. I would say that this is in the area of priceless or in some terms "The Sky Is The Limit".  Origin of disc is unknown . Total running time of disc is 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Give or take a second. I grade under 100 watt light .  Vinyl condition is a stunning Near Mint / Trail off area is Black Ice!!!!!!!! Labels are Near Mint - (Minus) / comments has small amount of light fading on one side.  If it was not for small amount of fading on one side it would have made a higher grade than NM-(minus)  Original Audiodisc sleeve condition:   VG+  / Has what appears to be Prff written on each side of the sleeve with the Number 50 above it on one side in pencil. Or could even say Paff. It does have several small tears in it that are hardly notable.  Of all the Acetates I've had I feel this is one of the rarest and nicest records I've owned. That's saying a lot because I have owned and sold some rare Acetates!!!!! Check my feed back, some of which is on rare Acetates. I just sold a rare Audiodisc Beatles acetate and the buyer give me a Perfect A+++++++ on that transaction. I can't  say enough good things about this rare piece of history.  This is the most beautiful raw and pure performance you will probably ever hear by this giant broadway star. By saying giant broadway star I mean by the 1st lady of broadway as someone kind enough emailed me to inform me. I would like to thank every one who has helped out with information on this huge monumental piece of history. If you don't know who I am referring to she later did Peter Pan and also Sound of Music. The South Pacific Broadway play did better then any other play to date. 10 tony awards were given out for this master piece. That's not been done again as far as I know. They were nominated for 10 awards and won all 10 Awards. That in itself is amazing and I think the only other play to come close was the second play Rodgers and Hammerstein  along with Mary did was the Sound of Music. The voice on this disc is truly magical  on a one of a kind acetate. Click on link below to hear a sample of acetate, you may need to have real player already downloaded in order to listen.  http://s172851359.onlinehome.us/some.mp3 If you are a true collector then feel free to bid on this ultra rare Acetate.   Click here to view the online appraisal certificate No one else sings with her on this and there is no band or Orchestra playing along. The someone singing with her would have been Ezio Pinza like in the broadway cast and record release. So right about now it should occur to you collectors the rare nature of this 8''Acetate Audiodisc.  This is a New York made Acetate with blue and white labeling . Something else that makes this a real treasure is you dont see a lot of 8'' acetates. You see a lot of 16'' 12'' 10'' and 7" but not the ultra rare 8". Combine this with what's on this disc and the condition and you have just gotten into a very rare and sought after piece that I feel would be hard to match. As a side note these discs are not to played over and over . They are to be recorded and then put away. I recommend putting this type of vinyl artifact into a safe or vault and it should last forever. It bears the words Audiodisc Recording Blank.  This Acetate plays in 78 RPM and has only been played once and that was to record the beautiful majestic voice on it.  If you have any questions feel free to email me and we will chat over this wonderful item.
