Additionally, the unit offers 24-bit internal processing, a true stereo signal path, balanced analog inputs and outputs, and full AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital input and output. One of the advances in Lexicon PCM91 is the ability to create incredibly realistic small spaces. For both music and film sound, it is often vital to have the ambiences of a phone booth or very small drum room. Another new concept in the PCM series is dynamic spatialization effects. Two independent spatial processors allow the user to place effects virtually anywhere between the loudspeakers, or even beyond them. Most significantly, they allow one to locate the effects dynamically, thus creating different spaces that change along with the music. For example, when playing sustained chords through "Steered Rear," (found on the PCM 90's Dual Reverb card - not included) the program automatically steers the reverb around the listener (into full rear in surround sound) when the input audio decays past the threshold. A single adjust knob is automatically attached to all applicable parameters in each factory tailored preset. This allows for fast and powerful modification of each preset in real time, without ever going into the edit mode. The PCM 91 provides two further forms of editing. Go mode provides access to as many as ten hand picked parameters for any particular preset. Pro mode allows full access to an Edit Matrix of as many as a hundred parameters for very detailed sculpting of a particular effect.
