Because they don't exist. Anyone that collects trading cards will tell you that most cards are far from mint even when they are taken from a fresh factory pack. Record album jackets are no different, especially used ones. Even the outrageously gorgeous second state butcher in shrinkwrap we recently offered was only listed as "near mint". Why ? Because we don't believe in overgrading items. As far as peeling butcher covers,we perform this work everyday and have for over 20 years so we can feel confident in our opinion that one should be careful about claims about "perfect peels". While yes, to most folks, this may be an acceptable term, the real fact is that these covers have been permanently altered by the recovering process at the Capitol factory in the stages of becoming 2nd state covers and therefor it is our professional opinion that such claims of perfect peels are obvious exaggerations and nothing else. Even with trunk slicks that are removed in one whole piece without tearing. Sellers who send their items out to have them peeled don't actually know what has been done to the jacket because they haven't performed the work or observed it being done. Our butchers never leave out site and we can accurately vouch 100% for all work that has been performed. Regardless, there will always be slight glue residue or glue rings or faint lines present. Look closely at close up photographs and you will almost always see glue haze, horizontal lines or circular rings running down the the right side near the mouth opening. Far from perfect friends. We offer a meaningful Certificate Of Authenticity specifying the chain of custody.SPECIFIC CONDITION OF THIS ITEM IS AS FOLLOWS: The front cover on this butcher cover being offered for sale, as you can see from the photos, is fantastic. This is a stunning investment grade peel as you can see in the photos with no major issues whatsoever as far as the butcher cover is concerned. This is as good as it gets ! We are one of the only in house professional butcher peelers on Ebay and would put this particular peel up against anything out there. We peel butcher covers for many Ebay sellers and many have receive record prices for these items,and this is no exception. We don't overgrade our items. Honesty is the best policy. If there is anything, even the most minor of problems, with a butcher jacket such as a wear spot or minor wear issue, it doesn't qualify for a NM grade in our opinion even if the peel is NM, so this jacket would probably come in at an overall VG++/NM- grading even though the peel as just about as nice as any other peel we have offered. As far as the physical issues of the jacket are concerned, the top seam is completely tight and intact. The bottom seam is tight with just a one inch beginning crack that has been gently and professionally repaired. There is some paper checking and a tiny spot of loss to the spine paper on very top and bottom of spine. The writing is legible. The spine has also been professionally mitigated with archival glue to prevent any further issues. The back is decent and very clean with some average overall tanning/aging/light ring wear.No writing, stickers or other troubles ! This jacket is solid enough for a record an inner sleeve to comfortably be inserted into the jacket as seen in the photo, however we strictly advise against this as it is safer to avoid any pressure on the 40+ year old paper. No big deal and this is why the piece is marked down below $1200. This is the perfect Butcher for those who don't want to spend $1200 or more but want a Genuine 1966 3rd State Butcher Cover that looks just as nice in regard to the Butcher slick.
