Garrard 301 Grey Grease Bearing a superb example, not to be missed This fantastic Garrard 301 is one of the rare and highly sought after grey grease bearing versions and it has no dustbug marks of any kind and ALL of the paint is still on it with none of the horrendous flaking often found on these. It is completely original and has not been re-enamelled. I doubt you will find a better one on the market, the paintwork is just as it left the factory and these never came out of the factory gates in perfect condition. The early Garrard 301 chassis were made from recycled bomb casings and the quality of the finish was such that the only way they could be made even slightly presentable was to use grey hammertone paint and there was ALWAYS some minor blemishes. In fact if you ever see one of these with a perfect finish the chances are it has been re-painted and is not original. This one however IS 100% original as it left the factory. These are growing in value at an ever increasing rate nowadays and I only offer it here because I just have too much stock, in fact it is the last one in my collection. It has been serviced and has a new charge of genuine Garrard grease in the main bearing. It is in 100% original condition, nothing has been done to it apart from servicing, ever. It had only one owner before me so I know it's full history and I've never even cleaned it. It still has all it's original patina, including some overpaint of staining from the plinth. This can be removed with something like methylated spirit if you like but I preferred to leave it untouched. The serial number is 8738. Underneath it is in very good condition and again is 100% original. No replating of control linkages or replacement parts, it even has the original suppressor can (still working) Mechanically it is perfect with all the linkages working perfectly. There is no noise from the motor or main bearing and it has superb speed stability. This can be used in any country in the World as it is easily converted for different power systems with no modifications needed. The drive pulley will need changing for 60Hz countries and these are regularly available on eBay and I often have them in stock myself. The platter also has perfect paintwork on the top and underneath Even the original rubber mat is in excellent condition with none of the usual splitting around the centre hole. You will NOT get better!!!!! The control levers are perfect with no cracks or repairs and the control plates are good too. And yes it does come with the mounting nuts and bolts, everything you need is here and this is ready to use. These seldom appear on eBay, you just know that this is going to be absolutely perfect and you will not want to let this go.
