THE EAGLES - HOTEL CALIFORNIA The Eagles' biggest-selling regular album release and one of the most successful rock albums ever. This record marked a shift for the Eagles as Don Henley assumed the role of the band's dominant voice, both as a singer and a lyricist. Almost every track on this record still gets airplay 30 years later. Track Listings 1. Hotel California 2. New Kid In Town 3. Life In The Fast Lane 4. Wasted Time 5. Wasted Time (Reprise) 6. Victim Of Love 7. Pretty Maids All In A Row 8. Try And Love Again 9. The Last Resort ON THE BORDER On their third album, The Eagles finally produced a No. 1 hit with "The Best of My Love," but most of On The Border is marked by tough rockers, not sweet ballads. "Already Gone" is a brusque kiss-off and "Midnight Flyer" a bluegrass kicker, while "James Dean" recalls the '50s rebel icon, and the title track reflects on paranoia and creeping Big Brotherism. The Eagles also cover a Tom Waits tune, "Ol' 55," and pay tribute to alt-country godfather Gram Parsons on "My Man." The album title is prophetic in the sense that the band that made this record was on the verge of greatness, but not quite there yet. Track Listings 1. Already Gone 2. You Never Cry Like A Lover 3. Midnight Flyer 4. My Man 5. On the Border 6. James Dean 7. Ol' 55 8. Is It True? 9. Good Day In Hell 10. The Best Of My Love ONE OF THESE NIGHTS The Eagles exploded on the charts in 1975 with One of These Nights, the first of four straight albums by the band to reach No. 1. The album was their most varied to date, with the discofied title track, the stately waltz "Take It To the Limit," and the tough, cynical country rocker "Lyin' Eyes." The album contains a couple of unusual numbers as well, including Bernie Leadon's psychedelic banjo showcase "Journey of the Sorcerer" and "I Wish You Peace," which Leadon wrote with his then-girlfriend, Patti Davis. Track Listings 1. One of These Nights 2. Too Many Hands 3. Hollywood Waltz 4. Journey of the Sorcerer 5. Lyin' Eyes 6. Take It to the Limit 7. Visions 8. After the Thrill Is Gone 9. I Wish You Peace DESPERADO If ever a group of musicians had a clear vision of where they wanted to go and how to get there, it was these southern California boys who built a steady rolling FM hit factory on the tenets of Gram Parsons' invention of country-rock. For their second album, the group decided concept was most important and set out to portray themselves as keepers of the old West – their outlaw image a natural for those born unto rock and roll soil. Track Listings 1. Doolin-Dalton 2. Twenty-One 3. Out Of Control 4. Tequila Sunrise 5. Desperado 6. Certain Kind Of Fool 7. Doolin-Dalton (Instrumental) 8. Outlaw Man 9. Saturday Night 10. Bitter Creek 11. Doolin-Dalton/Desperado (Reprise) THE EAGLES DEBUT LP Steeped in the country-rock sound of the Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers (guitarist/banjo player Bernie Leadon had been a member of the latter) and the burgeoning So-Cal singer-songwriter movement (Jackson Browne contributes to a pair of songs on the album), The Eagles 1972 debut is full of breezy hit singles ("Take It Easy," "Peaceful Easy Feeling") and stinging rock ("Witchy Woman," "Take the Devil"). Thanks to Leadon's presence, there's a bluegrass feel to songs like "Nightingale" and "Early Bird." Mostly, though, the album offers a sampling of the L.A. scene's laid-back early-70s optimism, with just a hint of the darkness to come. Track Listings 1. Take It Easy 2. Witchy Woman 3. Chug All Night 4. Most Of Us Are Sad 5. Nightingale 6. Train Leaves Here This Morning 7. Take The Devil 8. Earlybird 9. Peaceful Easy Feeling 10. Tryin' THE LONG RUN Another Eagles record loaded with hits. The album begins with the Top 10 charting title cut, with dual slide playing from Joe Walsh and Don Felder, rhythm guitar from Glenn Frey and vocals from drummer Don Henley. Next is Timothy's vocal debut, the soulful ballad "I Can't Tell You Why" which went Top 10 and is a great song. The chart-topping rocker "Heartache Tonight" kicks off the Side Two and features a great Frey vocal and stellar guitar work from Walsh. The album closes with "The Sad Café," featuring a great acoustic guitar solo from Felder and superb alto sax from David Sanborn. Track Listings 1. The Long Run 2. I Can't Tell You Why 3. In The City 4. The Disco Strangler 5. King Of Hollywood 6. Heartache Tonight 7. Those Shoes 8. Teenage Jail 9. The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks 10. The Sad Cafe THE EAGLES THE LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN" 50th Annual Grammy Awards Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals …Nearly every one of their classic rock radio staples has a doppelganger here, as the J.D. Souther-written 'How Long' recalls 'Take It Easy,' the stiff funk of 'Frail Grasp on the Big Picture' echoes back to the clenched riffs of 'Life in the Fast Lane' and while perhaps these aren't exact replicas, there's no denying it's possible to hear echoes of everything from 'Lyin' Eyes' and 'Desperado' to 'Life in the Fast Lane.'…It's all calculated, all designed to hearken back to their past and keep the customer satisfied, but yet it often manages to avoid sounding crass, as the songs are usually strong and the sound is right, capturing the group's peaceful, easy harmonies and Joe Walsh's guitar growl in equal measure." – All Music Guide Track Listings 1. No More Walks In The Wood 2. How Long 3. Busy Being Fabulous 4. What Do I Do With My Heart 5. Guilty Of The Crime 6. I Don't Want To Hear Any More 7. Waiting In The Weeds 8. No More Cloudy Days 9. Fast Company 10. Do Something 11. You Are Not Alone 12. Long Road Out Of Eden 13. I Dreamed There Was No War 14. Somebody 15. Frail Grasp On The Big Picture 16. Last Good Time In Town 17. I Love To Watch A Woman Dance 18. Business As Usual WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER - 2LP SET The Eagles' first newly recorded album in 14 years gets off to a good start with the rocker "Get Over It," a timely piece of advice about accepting responsibility, followed by the tender ballad "Love Will Keep Us Alive," the country-styled "The Girl From Yesterday," and "Learn to Be Still," one of Don Henley's more thoughtful statements. Hell Freezes Over contains an EP's worth of new material followed by a live album. Track Listings 1. Get Over It 2. Love Will Keep Us Alive 3. The Gril From Yesterday 4. Learn To Be Still 5. Tequila Sunrise 6. Hotel California 7. Wasted Time 8. Pretty Maids All In A Row 9. I Can't Tell You Why 10. New York Minute 11. The Last Resort 12. Take It Easy 13. In The City 14.
