See more about 'Brand New Hofner Club 50 Namm Show Proto-type' Description This is a brand new 2008 Hofner Club 50.  This is the proto type guitar shown at the winter NAMM show.  Serial #1.  This is a re-issue of the 1954 model.   Hollow maple body, arched top and back, blonde finish, rosewood fingerboard, one 507 pickup, electric equipment E 1, one volume and one tone control on round plate. The Höfner Club semi-acoustic guitars were among the favourite instruments of Lennon and Harrison. The 2008 model includes a sustain block for a more modern sound. By virtue of its compact body dimensions it is less susceptible to feedback, even at high volume. Two original Höfner 'Diamond' pick-ups. From the early fifties Hofner set the standards for electric guitar design and manufacture with many famous models such as the Senator, President and Golden Hofner, all of which are now collectors items. Hofner has led the field of the European semi-acoustic guitar with the Verythin in all its forms and guitars such as the Ambassador. This tradition is carried forward today with new range of Rock, Jazz guitars and the family of Verythin models. Höfner has been building guitars in Germany since the early fifties.
