Description Here It Is!! This is the incredibly rare, almost impossible to find, 4CD Set of Bernard Herrmann's London recordings. In the 1970's Herrmann recorded numerous concert suites to his best film scores with London's top orchestras. These albums were originally listed under a variety of titles by the Decca label. In the 1990's the Varese Sarabande CD Club issued this 4CD set (under the Masters Film Music Series), which contains all of the aforementioned recordings. That limited pressing went out of print years ago. Herrmann once commented that these performances, not the film performances, were the best realizations of his music. In this set are lengthy suites from Citizen Kane, The Devil And Daniel Webster, Jane Eyre, The Snows Of Kilimanjaro, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, Fahrenheit 451, The Trouble With Harry, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Psycho, Marnie, The Seventh Voyage Of Sinbad, The Three Worlds Of Gulliver, Mysterious Island, and Jason And The Argonauts. The total running time is over 3 hours! All 4 discs feature stunning, full-dimensional sound. This item is from my private collection, so the discs are in superb shape. The booklet cover shows very minor wear, and the booklet pages are in perfect shape. Excellent essays by Herrmann scholars comment on each score in detail. Additionally, the booklet contains facsimiles of several pages from Herrmann's actual scores - an added bonus for any musician. Grab this copy before it goes.
