Description
This is an original 3 & 3/4 ips twin track mono reel-to-reel tape from 1963 (TA-PMC 1202) ‘Please Please Me’ - The Beatles’ first album. TEST RESULTS: There is a momentary drop in pitch on 'Anna Go To Him' on side one which also happens at the corresponding point on side two (on 'A Taste Of Honey'). I can’t explain it - there is no damage to the tape at this point. There has been one repair to the tape about three quarters of the way through. It is on 'Ask Me Why' but it is a very good repair and is completely indescernable when playing the tape (sides one and two). There are no stretches or creasing on the tape which otherwise plays as new. LEADER TAPE: Full length at both ends, with the printed details of the album to confirm its authenticity. REEL: Original 4 inch Emitape reel in excellent condition - no scratches or cracks. BOX LID: Has seen better days but not too bad. Two corners and both finger slots have splits and there are two small surface tears beside Ringo. However, on the positive side, there are no other tears, no writing and no sellotape marks. Take a look at the listing photo and, If you so desire, I will make a new lid at no extra charge, the same size as the original with identical graphics (see my 'other items for sale' for more information on new boxes). Consequently, there will be no marks, stains, splits or tears on the replica which I will pre-cut and fold ready for you to stick on the existing box lid. You will need to let me know if you want this replacement lid so I can post it with your tape. BOX BACK: There is an ‘x’ marked beside some of the track listings in red biro but, other than this, the box back is in excellent condition - no splits on any of the corners, no stains, tears, writing or sellotape marks and only minimal signs of ageing. EXTRAS: Still has the original packing slip inside the box which tells the bearer 'In case of complaint this slip must be returned with the tape record'. I suspect that may be out of warranty after 45 years but it's a nice addition. This can be seen in the listing photo. In case you can't remember, the tracks are: SIDE ONE: I Saw Her Standing There; Misery; Anna (Go To Him); Chains; Boys; Ask Me Why; and Please Please Me. SIDE TWO: Love Me Do; P.S. I Love You; Baby It's You; Do You Want To Know A Secret; A Taste Of Honey; There's A Place; and Twist And Shout. The opening price for this tape is a BARGAIN if it stays at that (check out http://www.leninimports.com/beatles_reel.html#bssingles ). I put Beatles reel-to-reel tapes on eBay whenever I can get hold of them. If you are a fan or a collector, it might be worth your while checking out my feedback and future listings by adding me to your favourites.
