Description
To say this item is unusual is putting it mildly! This is a 45 R. P. M. 7" Soundcraft metal centered acetate by The Crickets (with Buddy Holly) of "Not Fade Away" / "Tell Me How"! These two songs were NEVER paired up as a single here in the U. S., they were used as flip sides for The Crickets second and third singles: Brunswick 55035 Oh, Boy! / Not Fade Away Brunswick 55053 Maybe Baby / Tell Me How Both songs were recorded at Norman Petty's studio in Clovis, New Mexico. "Not Fade Away" was recorded May 29, 1957. The session date for "Tell Me How" has never been revealed, but it's generally agreed it's from the Spring of 1957. This is the version that the Picks overdubbed in October, 1957. Both songs appeared on the "Chirpin' Crickets" LP that was issued in late 1957. Norman Petty was well documented as using Soundcraft acetates, especially for Holly's 1957 cuts, BUT I have NO documentation that this acetate originates from the studio. The acetate itself is labeled on one side only - the "Not Fade Away" side. It is not dated. Please see scan. The condition of the disc itself is VG + and comes in a vintage tan sleeve. A crushingly monster rarity of which I am not aware of any other! This comes from my own collection and will NOT be relisted for any reason. I have been asked about this acetate over the years, so now is the chance. Bidders please take notice: I am NOT set up for Pay-Pal. I do not accept personal checks for any reasons. Postage will be determined by the winning bidder. Please ask any questions before bidding. Thanks for looking at my auctions and good luck!
