Description
New Listing 6 CD LOT BLUES All CDs in this lot are new and still sealed! *B.B. KING King Biscuit Flower Hour Live (King Biscuit Flower 1998 - New & Sealed CD) All-star jams with Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter & George Benson. Includes a dazzling version of 'The Thrill Is Gone'. A King Biscuit Flower Hour Records release. For anyone who has watched an older and more tired B.B. King perform the last couple years the younger generation might wonder what all the fuss was about. Well, this album from 1978 will give anyone a textbook lesson on B.B. King. His guitar tone is biting and nasty and this is a time when he really cared about playing the guitar. He makes his guitar sing, makes multiple bends on one note and even shows some fast licks which is not normally a B.B. trademark. Also on the album is Johnny Winter who does a marvelously restrained lead on the song "Going Down Slow." If you only own one B.B. King album, this should be the one. SONGS/TRACKS: 1. Caldonia 2. How Blue Can You Get 3. Goin' Down Slow 4. I Got Some Help I Don't Need 5. Just A Little Love 6. The Thrill Is Gone File Under: Blues - Keyword: Edgar & Johnny Winter, George Benson *BLUES CHICAGO STYLE Volume One (Pazzazz 2005 - Germany - New & Sealed CD) The Chicago blues is a form of blues music that developed in Chicago, Illinois by taking the basic acoustic guitar and harmonica-based Delta blues and adding electrically amplified guitar, amplified bass guitar, drums, piano, and sometimes saxophone, and making the harmonica louder with a microphone and an instrument amplifier. The music developed when poor Black workers did the "Great Migration" from the South into the industrial cities of the North such as Chicago in the first half of the twentieth century. Well-known Chicago musicians include singer/songwriters such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Willie Dixon; guitar players such as Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley and Elmore James ("The King of Slide Guitar"); and "harp" (blues slang for harmonica) players such as Big Walter Horton, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson I, Charlie Musselwhite and Junior Wells. Gary Davis and others. Mike Bloomfield: One of America's first great white blues guitarists, earning his reputation on the strength of his work in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. His expressive, fluid solo lines and prodigious technique graced many other projects -- most notably Bob Dylan's earliest electric forays Debbie Davies: Former guitarist for Albert Collins & the Icebreakers, Fingers Taylor & the Ladyfinger Revue, and Maggie Mayall & the Cadillacs, an all-female band led by John Mayall's wife, Davies has continued to attract attention as the leader of her own group since 1993. "I believe my reputation backs up my ability to recognize exceptional blues," explained John Mayall during a early-2000 interview. "Such a one is Debbie Davies. Pinetop Perkins: He admittedly wasn't the originator of the seminal piano piece "Pinetop's Boogie Woogie," but it's a safe bet that more people associate it nowadays with Pinetop Perkins than with the man who devised it in the first place, Clarence "Pinetop" Smith. Although it seems as though he's been around Chicago forever, the Mississippi native actually got a relatively late start on his path to Windy City immortality. It was only when Muddy Waters took him on to replace Otis Spann in 1969 that Perkins's rolling mastery of the ivories began to assume outsized proportions. SONGS/TRACKS: 1.
