Description
The Beatles, EXTREMELY RARE, 4" MONO Parlophone Reel-to-Reel Tape, "The Beatles For Sale." This tape comes to us from our overseas consignor. To our knowledge, it was only released in England by Parlophone in the 4" mono reel-to-reel format. This tape is an unusually rare find, and perfect for the Audiophile/ Beatles/ Reel-to-Reel oficiando. Your Beatles collection will not be complete without it. This tape is the original, vintage 1964 Parlophone/EMI Mono release, Parlophone TA-PMC 1240, recorded in Great Britain, in Twin Track Mono at 3 3/4IPS. The tape is wound on the original 4" EMI plastic reel, with original Parlophone leader tape (designated and marked) at both ends. The paper-cover insert is in excellent condition with bright, clean graphics. The is a very minor crease along the left-hand side where insert "folds" as box is opened (mentioned only for accuracy). No stains, marks or writing of any kind. The original outer acrylic box, however, does exhibit a few problems: a small crack in the lower bottom left-hand corner (very minor) and a small side-piece of plastic "missing" near the thumb-notch, along the side of the box. These, however, in no way detract from the overall appearance. The box is hinged and closes as intended. The iside of box is very clean. Light surface marks, consistent with age, are scattered over both the front and back of the acrylic box. The recording quality of this tape is exceptionally good. In fact, it sounds amazingly well for a recording which is 45 years old. The songs on the tracks are as follows: Track 1 Track 2 a. No Reply a. Eight Days A Week b. I'm A Loser b. Words Of Love c. Baby's In Black c. Honey Don't d. Rock And Roll Music d. Every Little Thing e. I'll Follow The Sun e. I Don't Want To Spoil The Party f. Mr. Moonlight f. What You're Doing g. Kansas City g. Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby The Beatlesand Solo BeatlesReel-to-Reel TapesPrice & Reference Guide©1997-2000 Mitch McGeary and Perry Cox Although not quite as popular as their LP counterparts, reel tapes are certainly gaining in popularity and appreciation among collectors as they are the most popular area to collect of all the tape formats. The challenge, as with records, is to find them in near mint or better condition. Unlike an LP, the shrink wrap had to be completely removed to use the product, and therefore most of the tape boxes were exposed to wear. They were never stored in protective bags, and usually stacked in piles with other tapes. Some boxes were tight and hard to open, resulting in tears on the edge around the thumb tab cut-out. As well, most of the boxes on the heavier 7½ ips tapes seem to have at least some seam splitting due to the heavier reel floating around inside. Very few copies turn up in factory sealed condition. The following is a list of all known Beatles and Solo Beatles reel to reel tapes released in the U.S. from 1964-1984, including variations and reissues. Most titles were released in the 7" reel format, using two different playback speeds. Three titles were released in the 5" format - Meet The Beatles, Yesterday And Today, and Paul's Give My Regards To Broadstreet Audio Press Kit.
