BEATLES Very Rare 4" Reel to Reel "With The Beatles" Start Price USD 9.99 Current Price USD 49.99 Time Left - Bid Count 4 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Sunday, August 31, 2008 End Time Sunday, September 07, 2008 Location Austin, Texas See more about 'BEATLES Very Rare 4" Reel to Reel "With The Beatles"' Description   The Beatles, EXTREMELY RARE,  4" Reel to Reel Tape, "With The Beatles."  This is the second album by The Beatles released in the UK.  This tape is an unusually rare find, and perfect for the Audiophile/ Beatles/ Reel-to-Reel collector.   This tape is the original,   vintage 60's Parlophone recording TA-PMC 1206, recorded in England, in Twin Track Mono at 3 3/4IPS.  The tape is wound on the original, clear acrylic 4" Emitape reel.  The Parlophone white leader tape (side 1) states, "With The Beatles   Part 1   The Beatles   Recording First Published  1963   Unauthorized Public Performance, Broadcasting and Copying of this Record Prohibited   Made in Great Britain  Parlophone   TA-PMC 1206   Speed 3 3/4 IPS   Track 1"   The 2nd side begins with Parlophone red leader tape, and leader copy is similar to that of side 1.  This particular recording is seldom ever found, and was originally released only in Great Britain.  It comes with the original 5 1/4" EMI/ Parlophone black and white box-- made and printed in Great Britain.  The following describes the condition status of this rarity: The box is in somewhat damaged condition.  The front, box top picture and graphics are in very good condition, with no writing, rips or stains.  There is, however, slight edge wear along the black, right-edge of the box.  The rear, box top is also in very good condition, with all lettering clear and distinct.  There are a few insignificant marks scattered over the area, but nothing outside of normal wear.  There are no ink marks nor writing of any kind, only wear and slight discoloration.  The sides of the box, however, are in poor condition.  Two (of the 4) sides of the "bottom cover" have gaps (one, a 3" area of missing cardboard, and another 1/2" area along the upper edge).  There is also one 2 1/2" gap along one side of the "top cover."  We suspect the larger "gaps"are areas where the edges of the box were torn or ripped.  The 1/2" gap, howeve, appears to have been an intentional "cutout" of the side for some strange reason.  Outside of the "gaps" along the sides, the box is in fair condition. Now, for the recording.  Unfortunately, the entire first side of this tape, save for about 3 seconds of "It Won't Be Long" (song a) is gone.  We can only assume that either this is a blunder in the original recording by Parlophone, or that someone during it's 45 year history inadvertantly erased Track 1!  What is strange, however, is that  a few seconds of  'song a' plays, and then"nothing."   Nothing else has been re-recorded over Track 1.  What a shame!  Could have this tape been released this way, in error-- missing Track 1 ?  We just don't know.  We know of no other Parlophone 4" recordings in which to compare.  There have been other Beatles' albums released with errors (ie., the "butcher" cover/ the listing of song  'Because' twice on another album).  Track 2 is complete and intact, and sounds fine, albeit in monophonic sound.  With that being said, we offer this As Is.  In other words, it is what it is. This item, as stated above, is an extremely rare find and offered to serious bidders only.  The current value of this collectable tape, in its unique condition, is estimated at over $175 (and, exceedingly more if found to be an "error" Beatles' recording).  Therefore, a reserve, has been issued.  If the reserve is not met, item will be withdrawn and returned to it's consignor, for further instruction.  You will not be disappointed.
