Description
BEATLES UK Mono REVOLVER--Unknown Contract Pressing LP NOT IN RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE--CONTRACT PRESSING Here's something we've never seen before, in 37 years of collecting and selling rare records--a highly unusual UK Mono Contract first pressing of the Beatles REVOLVER album. We've seen countless UK copies of this album, but this one is different--check out the photos and you'll see this has a raised, beveled section around the perimeter (about 1/4" from the edge) and an slightly domed, impressed "deep groove" area about 1/2" from the center hole. This is the 2nd pressing with the regular version of "Tomorrow Never Knows", issued a few days after the first press with the alternate version. It is NOT listed in the RECORD COLLECTOR Rare Record Price Guide either. This was clearly NOT pressed by Parlophone, who's labels were completely flat with a deep groove around the hole. From time to time, Parlophone couldn't meet demand and contracted with other labels to press lp's for them. Most well known of these are the contract pressings are for the first two Beatles UK albums, "Please Please Me" and "With The Beatles." These were pressed by Decca records, and are easily identified by the flat, deep groove, 1/2" from the outside perimeter--just look at any 60's UK Stones album. This is definitely NOT pressed by Decca, however. There are also Pye pressed contract pressings, that appear red when held to a light. This however is jet black. The matrix numbers here are XEX 605-2 and XEX 606-2, with stamper numbers 4 LT and 2P.The disc is in EX/VG+++ condition; very clean and shiny. The labels are beautiful NM, with a tiny area of bubbling on Side 1. The cover is EX+, with a record store shop sticker on the back that is probably removable. This is truly an extraordinary Beatles rarity; it may be your only chance to find one.CLICK HERE TO SEE OUR "ME" PAGE FOR MORE ABOUT OUR HIGH-END RARE RECORDS AND ONE-OF-A-KIND MUSIC COLLECTIBLES.We are EBAY Powersellers and have been buying and selling music collectibles for nearly 35 years via our website, Ebay, and mail-order.
