A Collection of 54 Erasure 12 inch Single, EP and LP Test Pressings Lovingly Compiled by a Warner Brothers Records Employee This is a collection of 54 test pressings of Erasure UK and US 12 inch singles and LPs that was lovingly compiled by a record engineer that worked for Warner Brothers Records in Los Angeles. This record engineer was also a big fan of the group Erasure and went all over the world expanding his Erasure collection specializing in accumulating as many Erasure test pressings as he could. Because of his job, this collector was in a unique position to obtain some of the rarest Erasure test pressings that were created. Many of the test pressings from the United States and the UK have expanded notes printed on the labels and some are just blank. Some of the US test pressings even come with Test Pressing Quality Control Report sheets glued to the generic clear inner record sleeve or generic outer cover. Many of the UK 12 test pressings still have the original “Mute Records - Promotional Copy Only” jackets which are rarely seen outside of the Mute Records company. Some of the rarer test pressings from both the US and the UK are for promotional records, limited edition records, or for records that for one reason or another were only pressed in extremely limited quanities. Some of the more famous and sought after test pressings go for big numbers especially in the UK and Japan. Other test pressings in this collection have rarely, if ever, been seen before at all. In some cases there are several copies of the same title and record number, but there are actual handwritten labels involved and there are differences in the handwriting on the labels and the amount of detail of the writing on each label. With the exception of 4 of the USA “Star” 12” test pressings, all of the Specialty Records Corporation Test Pressings have actual hand written details. Most of the USA and UK test pressings I have come across do not have hand written details, unless it is simply a matter of writing on a totally blank label (as is the case with some of the test pressings in this auction). Specialty Records Corporation Test Pressings labels from this time period were designed to have the name of the artist and the record number filled in by hand. This makes these test pressings rarer and far more desirable than the average test pressing.There are 17 test pressings with hand written labels in this collection. Of the 7 USA “Star” 12” test pressings in this auction, three of them have handwritten labels. No two of the test pressings with handwritten labels are exactly alike.In addition there are the very rare Test Pressing Quality Control Report Sheets that some of these test pressings feature. These rare intercompany reports are all, with the exception of one, filled out by hand. The inclusion of so many hand written labels and sheets is totally unique to this Erasure collection of records. Many of these test pressings have gone for prices that far exceed the price per item that the minimum bid price for this auction represents. If the collection fails to sell, some of these test pressings will be auctioned later individually at minimum bid prices considerably higher than the probable cost per record will be to a winning bidder of this auction. The minimum bid for this collection has just been lowered to 2699.99 (which is slightly less than 50.00 USD each or a little over 26.00 pounds each if you live in the UK). Since there are many test pressings in this collection that go for much more than that and considering what is in this collection, I think this is now an even better deal for an advanced Erasure collector or perhaps even a store that specializes in selling rare vinyl.
