Description
SOLD AS 1 LOT. This is an approximate count of records collected by a local radio personality for over 50 years. The figure 25,000 (plus/minus) is more than likely to be over 25,000. Records were counted to be 25,000 about 3 years ago. Some may have been added, maybe some taken out for other means. There may be some EP's mixed in as well as Promotion copies. They are in no order, segregated, or grouped. Some may be in paper covers, most will not. CONDITION: May vary and not guaranteed. Keep in mind these belonged to a radio station disc jockey who also played for wedding parties, sock hops, private parties and the likes so he took care of his livelihood. They have not been picked over and special or collectables removed. They are still boxed as the disc jockey left them so particular artist and titles are not available. I WILL, however, for a serious bidder, open the boxes and randomly pull some records (you suggest a number - within reason) and make note of the titles and artist I pull. All are to be mid 50's - R & B, Doo Woop, early rock and roll to rock into the mid 70's. All will be top 40 music. Hits by original artist! This is a TREASURE CHEST of music. Packing for shipment may take a little while at end of auction. Special care and best shipping will be given. Shipping charges will be prepaid if reasonable. If handling and care would make the shipping too costly, we are willing to negotiate those charges. PayPal preferred but will accept MO or Certified Funds. On Sep-04-08 at 17:39:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Today I went thru several boxes at random looking for content. These records are in all size and shapes of boxes. The records are in various states of condition. And in being honest I saw a few with cracks. I tried to find specific labels but there are too many boxes. A sampling of labels were: Motown, some having duos, some with different artist on either side; Gordy Records; Jimmy Ruffin - What becomes of the broken hearted on Soul Records; Ray Charles on 3 different labels; Bett Midler on a pink & silver Atlantic; red & yellow vinyals; 1 EP had 6 songs (4 usual); 1 EP had 4 songs, 4 different country artist-Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Charlie Walker, & Johnny Horton; Temptations on Gordy & other labels; Just too many labels and too many artist to list. Solos by Andy Gibb; Don Everly; Barry Gibb on reverse of Bee-Gees; I saw several Stax Records; some childrens bedtime stories; Fats & Brenda Lee were there; JERRY LEE LEWIS ON SUN RECORDS (saw 1 of those); Co-ed & Glow records; Frank Sinatra; Mills Brothers; Steve Lawrence; Ames Brothers; Four Tops; and lots of others. One find was a promotion record and a for sale Mercury lying together by Brook Benton. Just way too numerous to list. In addition to the Oldies, there are some country records. Some old, some not so old. Haggard, Jones, Nelson, Arnold, Snow, and that list goes on. Some 1990's. Billy Joel in a photo cover. Keep in mind, these are in a collection put together over the years by a Disc Jockey. No telling what all you will find. If I can clarify any of this, please email me. I am sorry this is so unorganized but this is the way the records are. We will have to negotiate freight and handling. NOT FREE SHIPPING as mentioned before.
